About twenty of us showed up and had a fruitful discussion. Frank Beal took the lead in encouraging us to form Block Watch groups in our own neighborhoods. He suggested making a diagram of the neighborhood rather than simply having a list of names and numbers… good idea. Share that with everyone in your group. We should have done this years ago, just out of neighborliness! Elect yourself Block Watch Captain (Frank’s the Colonel!) and get it done. I’ve taken on 100-200 Elysian St and across the alley behind us to Hastings. Interlace with your adjoining blocks and we’ll have a good network in the community. My e-mail is dongibbon@earthlink.net. I’d welcome discussion on these proposals. I’ve got my diagram made and am sending it out to 45 homes in the Block area.

We made a good beginning on organizing Blockwatces at the meeting. About ten watches are getting started, and I hope that the the network will grow as more people hear about us. Bea Doheny has put together some notebooks full of resources for Captains. Everyone interested in starting a Blockwatch is welcome to contact me. I would be glad to meet with you and your neighbors to share my experiences/

We were approached by APX Alarm systems on 2 separate weekends. Clean cut young guys, wearing company issued polo shirts. they were offering security systems with free installation/hardware. The systems were made by Honeywell. Has anyone else done business with them? Thanks for any info!
